How does hip-hop give a voice to people who are not heard ?
Hip-Hop is a cultural movement that strated in 1970 in New York in an especially district : the Bronx. Hip-Hop was created by young people from this district, in this district, people was a marginalized communities and created Hip-Hop as a way to express themselves.
Hip-Hop is not only music, it’s also speaking or rapping about real life experience, creating beats and mixing music, it,s Breakdance a street dance style and it’s Graffiti a visual street art.
Hip-Hop talks about social problems, identity and everyday life in the neighbourhood of the Bronx.
This leads us at this question : How does hip-hop give a voice to people who are not heard ?
I-WHY HIP-HOP STARTED
In 1970, many people especially African-American, Afro-Caraibbean and Latino faced at povrety, racism, proliferation of drugs, and gang violence. They created Hip-Hop to express their feeling, tell their stories and go out of the social exclusion.
Hip-Hop is a creative and non-violent way to deal with these problems, express themselves, be unite and be heard.
For that, people use Djing, MCing and Rap, Breakdance and Graffiti.
II-HIP-HOP AND MEDIA
Platforms like YouTube, Tiktok, Instagram and Spotify help many artist of Hip-hop to share their music, graffiti with many people around the world to have a global audience like TUPAC who does engaged rap, talk about real violence, racism and inequalities or BOOBA who talks about urban life.
Internet is a modern technology who making Hip- hop a global phenomen and highlight the voices that were previously ignored or unheard. It’s also a plateform who creates communities where fans and artists can interact directly and make more visibility for all these problems.
III-HIP-HOP TODAY
Today, Hip-Hop not influences only music but also language, dance, fashion and even politics because rappers talk about racism, police violence, poverty and inequality, hip hop influence also how society thinks about this communities.
Artist from all over the world create Hip-hop adapting to their own cultures who’s talk about expression and resistance. In France like MHD, in Africa like AKA, in Latin America like Residente,…
So, Hip-hop today is a global industry and a tool for personal and social expression, continuing to inspire people everywhere.
IV-CONCLUSION
In conclusion, Hip-hop is much than music, it’s a powerful cultural movement that help people to express themselves and is adapted to different cultures around the world to continued to address social and political issues.
Today, Hip-hop give a voice to people who are not heard through music, art and clothes. This art changes the society and connect communities around the world.
